The Trinidad and Tobago-born population in Canada numbered around 65,000 to 70,000 according to the 2021 Census, with higher figures when including those of Trinidadian and Tobagonian ancestry. Between January 2023 and March 2025 alone, Canada admitted 1,140 permanent residents from Trinidad and Tobago, with roughly half arriving through economic pathways such as the Provincial Nominee Program, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Worker streams. Many more have come via study permits, with over 1,260 issued in the same period, often leading to post-graduation work experience and eventual permanent residency.
