Greek Immigration to Canada in Recent Years

Immigration from Greece to Canada has remained modest since 2020, reflecting a mature and well-established Greek Canadian community primarily concentrated in Ontario and Quebec. According to the 2021 Census, the Greece-born population in Canada stood at approximately 54,715, while those claiming Greek ancestry numbered over 262,000. Between January 2023 and March 2025 alone, Canada admitted 605 permanent residents from Greece, with economic pathways such as the Provincial Nominee Program, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Worker streams accounting for the majority of approvals. Many additional Greeks have arrived via study permits, with around 320 issued in the same recent period, often serving as a pathway to post-graduation work experience and eventual permanent residency. English and French language skills, along with family sponsorship options, continue to support integration within Canada’s broader immigration framework focused on economic contributions and family reunification.
