Ivory Coast Immigration to Canada in Recent Years

Immigration from Ivory Coast to Canada has grown notably since 2020, driven largely by economic opportunities, education, and family reunification. As of recent data, the total Ivory Coast-born immigrant population in Canada stands at around 18,860 people. Between January 2023 and March 2025 alone, Canada admitted 6,370 Ivorian permanent residents, with the vast majority (over 5,300) arriving through economic pathways such as the Federal Skilled Worker program and Provincial Nominee streams. Many more Ivorians have entered via study permits, with over 10,000 issued in that same recent period, often serving as a bridge to permanent residency. This influx reflects broader Canadian efforts to attract French-speaking skilled immigrants from West Africa, alongside general post-pandemic recovery in immigration levels.
