According to the 2016 Census, Hong Kongese immigrants (208,940) were among the largest foreign-born groups in Canada.

The most recent data (2011) shows that immigrants comprised 20.6% of Canada’s population; in other words, one in five people were immigrants.

The number of immigrants from Hong Kong decreased 12.8% from 235,620 in 2001 to 205,430 in 2011, ranking Hong Kongese nationals as the 7th largest foreign-born group in Canada in 2011.

In 2011, 52% of Hong Kongese immigrants resided in Ontario. In fact, the Greater Toronto Area was home to 97,660 Hong Kongese.

In 2011, 36% of Hong Kongese immigrants resided in British Columbia, 8% in Alberta, and 2% in Quebec.
