Immigration to Canada increased from 249K in 2011 to 405K in 2021

In 2020, immigration to Canada decreased significantly, compared to the increased trend experienced in previous years.

However, a record of 405K new permanent residents were admitted into Canada in 2021.

According to IRCC, the major contributor to this increase was the fact that many temporary residents were transitioned to permanent residents.
