How to get a Canadian study permit -Infographic Description (April 25 Update).

Eligibility*

Being accepted by a designated learning institution** in Canada



You must prove that you have enough money to pay for your:

tuition fees

living expenses

return transportation

You must be a law-abiding citizen with no criminal record and not be a risk to the security of Canada. You may have to provide a police certificate.

You must be in good health and willing to complete a medical examination, if necessary.

You must satisfy an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay.

Apply

Get application package online or at your nearest visa application centre (where you will submit it later). Depending on your country, you may need a temporary resident visa as well.

Application fees

There is a fee of $150 per applicant. If you are in Canada, you can pay your fee online or in a financial institution. If you are not in Canada, you can pay online or in a Canadian Embassy, Consulate or High Commission

* You do not need a permit if you are enrolling in a short-term course or program of six months or less.
