Philippine Immigration to Canada in recent years

Over the past six years, from 2020 to early 2026, Filipino immigration to Canada has remained robust despite fluctuations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and later policy adjustments. The Philippines has consistently ranked as one of the top three source countries for new permanent residents, often second or third after India. Numbers dipped during the 2020-2021 border restrictions but recovered strongly afterward, with around 22,000 to 27,000 Filipinos gaining permanent residency annually in recent years, including about 22,675 in one reported year and over 13,000 in the first half of 2025 alone. This steady inflow has contributed to the growth of the Filipino Canadian community, which exceeds 950,000 people, driven by economic programs, family reunification, and pathways in healthcare and caregiving sectors. Recent reductions in overall immigration targets have led to some declines in Filipino arrivals compared to peak periods, yet the community continues to thrive and integrate across provinces like Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia.
