Since 2020, Argentinean immigration to Canada has remained relatively modest but steady, primarily through economic immigration programs, family sponsorship, and international student pathways. Argentina-born individuals admitted as permanent residents were lower in 2020 due to pandemic restrictions before recovering modestly in later years. Between January 2023 and March 2025 alone, Canada welcomed 1,045 Argentine permanent residents, with economic streams accounting for the majority at around 760, including Provincial Nominee Programs, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Worker pathways, while family sponsorship contributed about 235. Many Argentines settle in Ontario, particularly the Greater Toronto Area, as well as in Quebec (Montreal) and Alberta, attracted by skilled job opportunities, quality of life, education, and established community networks. Economic immigrants form the large majority, supported by family reunification. The Argentine-born population in Canada reached approximately 19,530 according to the 2021 Census, with the community continuing to expand gradually in the following years.
