Statistics Canada reported that in 2016, there were 7,540,830 foreign-born people living in Canada, which accounted for 21.9% of Canada’s population.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, the foreign born population increased 44.2% from 8,380 in 2006 to 12,080 in 2016.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, the largest immigrant groups were from the United Kingdom, the United States of America, the Philippines, China and India; together they accounted for 56% of the foreign-born population in this province.
