The United Nations estimated that the number of international migrants1 reached 244 million in 2015 –an increase of 71 million since 2000.

According to the UN report, Canada ranked 7th most popular immigration destination in 2015.




The United States of America, Germany, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, The United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates were the top receiving countries in 2015.

By region, Europe had the highest migrant stock (76 million), followed by Asia (75 million), North America (54.5 million), Africa (20.6 million) and Latin America and the Caribbean (9 million).
