In 2023, 2K Turkish were admitted to Canada as permanent residents

From 2010 to 2023, a total of 24,306 citizens from Turkey were admitted to Canada as permanent residents.

In recent years, Turkish immigration to Canada has been driven by a combination of economic, educational, and humanitarian factors, facilitated by Canada’s immigration pathways like the Express Entry system and Provincial Nominee Programs. Between 2016 and 2021, approximately 10,150 Turkish immigrants arrived, contributing to a Turkish Canadian population of over 76,740, primarily concentrated in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Many are skilled professionals, students, or refugees, including those fleeing unrest in Turkey or neighboring regions like Syria. Following the 2023 earthquakes in Türkiye, Canada introduced measures to prioritize applications and offer cost-free extensions for Turkish temporary residents, reflecting its commitment to supporting those affected. This has further strengthened the vibrant Turkish diaspora, which continues to enrich Canada’s multicultural landscape.
