Statistics Canada reported that in 2016, there were 7,540,830 foreign-born people living in Canada, which accounted for 21.9% of Canada’s population.

In Prince Edward Island, the foreign born population increased 87% from 4,780 in 2006 to 8,940 in 2016.

In Prince Edward Island, the largest immigrant populations were from China, United Kingdom, the United States, the Philippines and the Netherlands; together they accounted for 60% of the foreign-born population in this province.
