From 2010 to 2016, Canada admitted 1,874,740 new immigrants (permanent residents), and Alberta was the destination choice of 275,210 new immigrants.

During this period, immigration to Alberta increased from 32,655 in 2010 to 49,195 in 2016 –representing 12% and 17% of Canada’s immigration respectively.
