Over the past decade, Moroccan immigration to Canada has seen significant growth, with the Moroccan Canadian population increasing from approximately 69,655 in 2016 to an estimated 98,980 by 2021, according to census data. The majority, around 82.6%, have settled in Quebec, particularly Montreal, drawn by linguistic and cultural ties due to their French proficiency, while smaller communities have emerged in Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, and Winnipeg. Between 2011 and 2021, the number of Moroccan immigrants grew steadily, with many arriving as skilled workers, students (over 5,000 annually), or through family sponsorship programs. A notable portion of Moroccan Canadians are Sunni Muslims, with a significant minority (27-45%) being Moroccan Jews, contributing to diverse cultural and economic impacts, including in business, entertainment, and academia. Despite high education levels, some face employment challenges, with unemployment rates around 20% for Maghrebi immigrants in Quebec, though integration efforts, supported by Canadian policies and community organizations, have fostered a strong sense of belonging.
